讲座摘要：

Relatively late mastery of scalar implicatures has been suggested to correlate with children’s immature processing capacities, such as their limited working memory (e.g., Chierchia et al. 2001; Pouscoulous et al. 2007; Reinhart 2004). Yet, no studies have systematically evaluated the processing-based account. This project aims to fill this gap and examine the processing account from three different perspectives: 1) whether children’s working memory can reliably predict their performance on scalar implicatures (Experiment 1 & 2); 2) whether children with more cognitive resources available can compute more scalar implicatures (Experiment 3); 3) whether adults under excess high memory load will behave more like young children and compute fewer scalar implicatures (Experiment 4). The findings have provided new evidence for the processing account of children’s delay in scalar implicatures.

个人简介：

田启林，广东外语外贸大学博士，浙江工业大学副教授，研究方向为句法学，近期研究涉及实验句法和心理语言学。主持国家社科基金、教育部项目以及浙江省社科规划重点项目等各类项目10项，在《外语教学与研究》、《现代外语》、Lingua等国内外期刊发表论文20余篇，在商务印书馆、中国社会科学出版社等出版社出版专著2部、译著2部，多家SSCI和CSSCI期刊匿名审稿人。

王淑艳，美国康涅狄格大学在读博士。研究方向包括一语习得、句法、以及手语研究。其具体研究课题有等级含义推理习得、辖域歧义习得、自由选择推理习得、英语结果构式习得、不定冠词的语法化、以及美国手语的形容词。曾多次在国际学术会议展示其研究成果，包括BUCLD、GALA、NELS、GLOW、GLOW in Asia、TISLR等。曾多次在SSCI 期刊（Language Acquisition, Langauge Learning and Development）发表论文。
